FINAL EXAMS

It's almost time for final exams.

But don't panic. You've still got some time to prepare. Here are some pointers that can help keep final exams from getting the best of you...

1. Don't procrastinate. Ideally, you have been preparing for finals all throughout the semester. If not, you've still got time. Most teachers provide study guides and spend at least a few days in class preparing for final exams -- but to do well on your finals, this is not enough.

Be sure to spend some time at home reviewing notes, using your study guides, and preparing for your exams on your own. You've known all along when final exams are going to be -- they are not a surprise.

2. Work with your teachers. If you have questions -- ask. It's that simple. While it may be hard to get out of bed a little early so you have time to see a teacher before school starts, a quick ten minute refresher might be all it takes to clarify a concept that's been troubling you. Teachers should be in the building at least 30 minutes before the start of each school day which is a great time to stop by with questions.

3. Study with your friends. Studying does not have to be painful. If you've got classes with your friends, get together and study. Quiz each other and help each other with confusing topics. Let's be clear though -- playing Xbox with your friends while your books are open does not constitute studying.

4. Take final exams seriously. Sure it's only one exam over the course of an entire semester, but don't forget that your final exam can make up as much as 20% of your overall semester grade. A solid semester of work can quickly be damaged by a low final exam grade.
