LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Thousands of dollars will be awarded to MSHS seniors through the local scholarship program. The scholarships have different criteria and are available to all current MSHS seniors who qualify. Applications can be found below.

The deadline for all local scholarships is 3:30pm on Monday, April 1, 2019.
Completed scholarships should be turned in to Mr. Lybarger in the Guidance Office.

Busey Bank Scholarship - $1,000
CRITERIA: Attending Parkland College. activities, career plans, financial need.

Mahomet Chamber of Commerce Scholarship - (4) @ $1,000 each
CRITERIA: Minimum GPA of 4.0/5.0. Academics, activities, and financial need considered.

Campion STEM Scholarship - $500
CRITERIA: Enrolled in a STEM field of study

Charles Daniel Thomas Memorial Scholarship - 9 @ $1,000 each
CRITERIA: Academics, activities, community service, and financial need considered. Emphasis may vary to provide a diverse group of recipients.

Chris Craig Memorial Scholarship - 2 @ $500 each
CRITERIA: Average student who took Agriculture and/or vocational classes at MSHS. FFA members will be given preference, but all students may apply. Financial need, activities, character, and work ethic considered.

Dr. Edward P. Grogg Memorial Scholarship - $2,000
CRITERIA: Service to the community. This is also a need-based scholarship.

Forshey Family Scholarship - (2) $1000
CRITERIA: 4 yrs. of sports participation, GPA: 4.00, attending a four yr. college. Essay.

Ida Haack Memorial Scholarship - Amount and number of awards TBD (1-3) $3600

CRITERIA: Strong personal character and integrity, academic success, leadership qualities, active in athletics and/or other extracurricular activities.

CRITERIA: Essay on plans and goals required.

CRITERIA: Character and attendance considered. Looking for a student who "makes a difference."

CRITERIA: related to a veteran, 2 essays

Mahomet American Legion Post 1015 Scholarship - (2) $500
CRITERIA: Child/grandchild/sibling of a veteran. C average. Preference given to someone pursuing a vocational degree.

Mahomet-Seymour High School Scholarships - Multiple awards @ $250-$500 each
CRITERIA: Best chance scholarships! Sponsored by Student Council and MSEA. The two MSEA scholarships typically go to students majoring in education. The others are for any major. You do NOT have to be a member of Student Council to apply.

CRITERIA: Two years of participation in varsity level sport, essay and recommendations required.

CRITERIA: Thespian involved in at least 3 MSHS productions and majoring in theatre, performing arts, or education with related major.

CRITERIA: Plans to major in music or participate in a credited music group during college

Swiger Education Scholarship - $500
CRITERIA: Majoring in education with emphasis on English, Speech, or Theater. Involved in drama.

Tyler V. Atkins Memorial Scholarship - $750
CRITERIA: Four-year athlete with minimum GPA of 4.0/5.0. Coach's recommendation required.

Wylma K. Sizer Education Scholarship - $500
CRITERIA: Attending college to pursue a career in secondary education (6-12).

FREE SCHOLARSHIP SEARCHES - Although there are countless web-based scholarship searches availble for you to find and use online, we have found FastWeb to be the most reliable. Remember, you should never pay anyone to find scholarships for you!

Every college offers unique scholarship opportunities that are available upon request from that particular college or university. More information can typically be obtained by calling the college's financial aid.

PARKLAND SCHOLARSHIP SEARCH - Log onto the Parkland Connection and find out what Parkland scholarships for which you may be eligible.

ROTC - The Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program is a college-based, officer commissioning program. It is designed as a college elective that focuses on leadership development, problem solving, planning, and professional ethics.
