LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Thousands of dollars will be awarded to MSHS seniors through the local scholarship program. The scholarships have different criteria and are available to all current MSHS seniors who qualify. Applications can be found below. Please note that applications must be accessed using your school Google account.
The deadline for all local scholarships is 3:30pm on Friday, March 31, 2023.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1015 Scholarship - $500
CRITERIA: Related to a veteran, 2 essays required

CRITERIA: Child/grandchild/sibling of a veteran. C average. Preference given to someone pursuing a vocational degree.

Chamber of Commerce Scholarship - (4) @ $1,000 each
CRITERIA: Minimum GPA of 4.0/5.0. Academics, activities, and financial need considered.

Charles Daniel Thomas Memorial Scholarship - Multiple @ $1,000 each
CRITERIA: Academics, activities, community service, and financial need considered. Emphasis may vary to provide a diverse group of recipients.

Chris Craig Memorial Scholarship - 2 @ $500 each
CRITERIA: Average student who took Agriculture and/or vocational classes at MSHS. FFA members will be given preference, but all students may apply. Financial need, activities, character, and work ethic considered.

Drama Boosters Scholarship - Up to (4) awards of $500 minimum
CRITERIA: Thespian involved in at least 3 MSHS productions and majoring in theatre, performing arts, or education with related major.

FFA Alumni Senior Scholarship - $1000
CRITERIA: Currently active in FFA and other agriculture related experiences.

Girls Basketball Academic Scholarship - $500
CRITERIA: Member of the M-S girls basketball team, continuing education, 3.0+ GPA for first semester of senior year.

Hazen-Hall Education Scholarship - $1000
CRITERIA: Plans to continue education at an Illinois Community College or State (Illinois) University with the goal of becoming a teacher/PreK-12 educator.

Honorary Benevolence Scholarship - $1000
CRITERIA: This scholarship is awarded by Johnny and Cassey in memory of their daugther Nora Lianne. There is no application required for this award as it is based solely on teacher recommendation of a student continuing his/her education who consistently exemplifies qualities of selflessness, compassion and kindness.

Temple Hoyne Buell Memorial Scholarship
CRITERIA: Incoming freshman male at the University of Illinois. Sponsored by the Chi Psi fraternity. Acceptance into the fraternity is not a requirement for this award.

CRITERIA: Students from families at or below 200% of the 2022 Federal Poverty Guidelines. Must be applying to or enrolled full-time at an Illinois post-secondary educational/vocational school having not yet earned a bachelor's degree. 3.0+ GPA required.

CRITERIA: Submit a 500-word (or less) written essay or a 3-minute (or less) video essay that addresses how a Black American individual has inspired change in your life, and that discusses the contributions of the Black American individual who has inspired and motivated change in your life.

DCFS Scholarship

Every college offers unique scholarship opportunities that are available upon request from that particular college or university. More information can typically be obtained by calling the college's financial aid.

ROTC - The Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program is a college-based, officer commissioning program. It is designed as a college elective that focuses on leadership development, problem solving, planning, and professional ethics.
